Thanksgiving Celebration

Practicing Gratitude Together

UCI Sophomores performing at our annual Thanksgiving Celebration!

Each year, our college fellowship puts on a special Sunday service where we celebrate Thanksgiving together. Thanksgiving Celebration is a time for us to come together and remember how God has worked in our lives the past year and express gratitude for all we are thankful for.

We held our celebration at the UCI Alumni Center, where we sat around round tables banquet style, instead of the usual rows of chairs, just to have a more cozy feel. We heard a message from Joe on gratitude and how practicing gratitude actually makes you happier. We got to spend some time during service writing thank you cards to people that have impacted our lives and why we are grateful for them. We also spent some time writing out why “it didn’t have to be that...” on a big piece of paper - recounting the blessings that God has given us and how things could have been much different, but that we are grateful for the way things are.

We then got to feast on all the delicious Thanksgiving food that was prepared by staff and students. (Some traditional food, like turkey and mashed potatoes as well as some not so traditional food, like twinkies). It also has become tradition in our college fellowship to put on and watch performances from each other as we eat so that we can have some fun while getting to see how God has worked in the lives of others. Each class prepared a short performance, which included dancing and acting on the theme of gratitude and recapping of the past year. In addition to each class performance, we got to watch a beatboxing battle as well as a special video from the Irvine kids, which was a crowd favorite. We hope you can join us for our next Thanksgiving Celebration!
